How to Add Episode Titles to a Video Podcast

What graphics does a video podcast need?

A video podcast repeats the same four beats every episode: an episode title card at the top, an on air sign while you record, topic markers between segments, and a follow prompt at the end. Set your show name and colors once, then change the episode number and topic each week.

Podcasts are the most repetitive format in video, and that is their advantage. Build the pack once and every episode inherits it. These presets cover the recurring beats, plus a pull quote card for cutting vertical clips out of a long episode.

Step by step

  1. Map the presets to your running order

    Episode Card opens the show with the number beside the title. Topic Marker separates segments with a two digit number and timestamp. Soundbite Quote turns a good line into a card for clips. On Air Sign sits on a studio or camera shot, and Episode Outro closes with a follow prompt.

  2. Fill in this week's details

    Episode Card takes Label for the show name, From for the episode number, Title for the episode and Subtitle for the guest. Topic Marker takes From for the segment, Title for the topic and Subtitle for the timestamp. Soundbite Quote takes Text for the line, Title for the speaker and Subtitle for their role.

  3. Set durations and placement

    These run 3 to 5 seconds by default and can go up to 30. Topic Marker is the shortest at 3 seconds. Use Position to keep plates off the guests' faces. For vertical clips, make Soundbite Quote 9:16 and adjust Block width, so the line wraps comfortably and the speaker's name still has room.

  4. Set the background before export

    Each preset ships on a solid dark background, which suits an Episode Card in MP4. To overlay anything on your camera feed, set Background to Transparent. MP4 has no alpha, so export a PNG sequence for Premiere Pro or After Effects, or WebM with alpha for CapCut, OBS or Resolve on most systems.

  5. Slot it into the episode

    In Premiere Pro, choose File > Import, select the first frame, tick Image Sequence and place the marker on a track above your multicam, starting on the segment change. If you record live through OBS, add On Air Sign as a Media Source, tick Loop and position it above the camera.

    An interview podcast opens each episode with Episode Card and marks every new subject with Topic Marker, including the timestamp, so viewers can find their place when they skip around.

    A producer takes the best quote from an hour of conversation and sets it in Soundbite Quote at 9:16, with the guest's name and role, ready to post as a standalone clip.

  • Live-to-tape recordings

    A team recording through OBS keeps On Air Sign running in a corner of the wide shot, and then closes on Episode Outro with the show's release schedule in Subtitle.

Three tips that make it look intentional

  • Set the show name, font and brand color once, then only the episode number and topic change each week.
  • Cut pull quotes at 9:16 so a single episode yields a week of short clips.
  • Export the on air sign as a transparent WebM so it sits over your camera feed without a background.
