Editorial typography: carousel slides and posters that set themselves

Updated September 18, 20262 min read

How do you animate a Swiss-style carousel slide without masking every line by hand?

Let the layout come from the words. Each headline line gets its own mask sized from the text, the rules and labels snap to one margin grid, and the reveal is staggered from the line count, so retyping the headline rebuilds the whole slide instead of breaking it.

The editorial look is simple to admire and slow to build. A single slide means a matte per headline line, rules trimmed on separately, a typed label and a page counter, all realigned the moment the copy changes. Premiere, Resolve and CapCut have no per-line mask at all.

Five editorial typography presets to start from

Hover any card to play it. Opening one loads it in the editor with every control unlocked.

  • A colour panel rises, hairlines draw and a heavy headline climbs out of its masks before your handle and call to action land.

  • The cover slide of a carousel: an ink panel sweeps in, the hook stacks up line by line and a swipe arrow keeps nudging.

  • One oversized question fills the grid, line by line, with a small mono prompt and an arrow that asks for the swipe.

  • A tag box grows around the label, the panel lifts and the announcement rises into place with its date line underneath.

  • Every line is sized to span the full column, so the words lock into a solid block while hairlines draw between them.

Three tips that make it look intentional

  • Keep headlines to two or three short lines. Heavy type at full width reads instantly; a fourth line turns the slide into a paragraph.
  • Use one accent colour for the panel and let ink do everything else. The grid, not the palette, carries the style.
  • Export 4:5 for feed carousels and 9:16 for Reels from the same settings. The grid scales from the short side, so margins stay consistent.

Three things people get wrong

  • Long sentences in the headline field. The type shrinks to fit and loses its weight; move the detail into the subline.
  • Low contrast between panel and ink. Mono labels are small, so they need the strongest pairing in the palette.
  • Changing the page counter by hand on every slide. Set the page and total once per slide so the series stays consistent.

Frequently asked

Do the lines reflow if I change the headline?
Yes. Each line is measured from your text, its mask is sized to it and the stagger is spread across however many lines you type.
Can I use my own brand font?
You can pick any bundled open-license font for the headline and a separate one for the mono labels. Uploaded fonts are not supported yet.
  • Banner Ads

Animated banner ads from your own product photo

Start from your product cutout and logo, and let the layout come from the frame. The product, copy block, price and button are placed from the aspect ratio and the length of your text, so the same settings give a square feed ad, a vertical story and a widescreen hero without re-keying anything.

How to sell motion graphics on stock footage sites

Pick a marketplace and pass its review, produce clips that answer briefs rather than showcase technique, submit each one with a title, description and keyword list, and build a catalogue rather than a portfolio. Income comes from coverage over time, not from any single upload.

Keywording stock video: what marketplaces actually match on

Describe the literal content first, then the attributes a buyer filters by (colour, orientation, duration, transparency, format), and only then the mood or style words. Search engines match on what is in the frame far more reliably than on how the clip feels.
