How to Add Confetti and Particle Effects to a Video

   Choose by the moment

   Confetti Burst fires three cannons for a win or an announcement. Snowfall drifts layered flakes across a holiday or winter scene. Dust Disintegration crumbles your own text into drifting grains, for a dramatic ending or a word that needs to vanish. All three start on a transparent background.

   Tune the color and amount

   Most particle presets share Primary, Secondary, Accent, Density, Variation and Scale. Density sets how many particles appear, Scale sets their size, and Variation gives you a different random arrangement. Confetti Burst adds Position. Dust Disintegration adds Text, Font and Size, plus a Direction setting for which way it breaks up.

   Match length to the effect

   Defaults run from 2.5 to 10 seconds. Many presets, including Confetti Burst and Fire Embers, are marked as loops, so they can repeat under a long shot. Bursts such as Heart Burst are single events, which you should line up to the beat. Check Density again after switching to 9:16.

   Export over transparency

   Of the 45 presets, 43 start transparent. Keep it that way, because MP4 would fill the empty space with black. Use a PNG sequence for Premiere Pro or After Effects, and WebM with alpha for CapCut, Resolve or OBS. Firework Show and Digital Code Rain start on solid backgrounds.

   Trigger it on the beat

   In DaVinci Resolve, drag the frames folder into the media pool and it loads as one clip. Set the frame rate in Clip Attributes, then put the clip on a video track above your footage, with the first burst of particles on the moment you are celebrating.

Three tips that make it look intentional

• Trigger the burst on the beat, not before it.
• Two or three brand colors look designed; a rainbow looks like a template.
• Keep density low when the particles sit over faces or text.

Three things people get wrong

• Running the burst for four seconds. The moment is the first half second and the fall after it.
• Filling the frame at maximum density, which reads as a screen error rather than a celebration.
• Using the default palette on branded content when three brand colors would do the same job and look intentional.
