   Decide what should break

   RGB Split Text tears your own words into offset color channels, so it suits tech and gaming titles. Block Noise Transition is a 1 second transition that floods the frame with corrupted blocks at the cut. Broken Screen adds an impact flash and fractures from any point, for a hit or sudden failure.

   Control how harsh it gets

   All three have Primary, Secondary, Accent, Intensity and Variation. Intensity sets how violent the distortion is, and Variation gives a different pattern of tears. RGB Split Text also has Text, Font, Size and Text color. Broken Screen has Target X and Target Y, which set where the impact lands.

   Keep the disturbance short

   Defaults run from 1 second for transitions to 5 seconds for Glitch Lower Third and Error Popup Cascade. Block Noise Transition peaks at the midpoint of its clip, so that frame belongs on your cut. In 9:16, check where the Broken Screen target lands, since the percentages now apply to a taller frame.

   Export for your editor

   Seven of the 12 presets, including Block Noise Transition and Broken Screen, start transparent, so the distortion can sit on your footage. RGB Split Text starts on a dark background, which works as MP4 for a full-frame title. Otherwise use a PNG sequence for Premiere Pro or WebM with alpha for CapCut.

   Sit it across the cut

   Import the frames into After Effects with File > Import, tick PNG Sequence on the first frame, then put the layer above your two shots. Center it on the edit and set its frame rate under Interpret Footage. Add a short audio hit in the same place for a stronger result.

Three tips that make it look intentional

• Two to six frames is usually enough for a glitch accent.
• Cut the glitch on a transient in the audio and it will feel designed.
• Reduce intensity when the effect covers faces or small text.

Three things people get wrong

• Running the effect for the length of a sentence. Glitch reads as an accident, and accidents are short.
• Stacking three glitch presets to get more intensity instead of turning up the one you chose.
• Applying it to text that people still need to read.
